It was razed in 1946 to allow Stadium Way to push through. Due to its similarity in shape (two wings were added to the south of the Horse Barn in 1909), the Horse Barn is often photographically confused with the Cattle Barn, which was located several blocks to the east and eventually became the Lewis Alumni Center. This card is postmarked 1913, but the presence of the Livestock Pavilion and the lack of wings on the back of the Horse Barn dated this image as between 1904 and 1909.plain2019-05-09T16:51:06+00:00Is found in PC 117, Ivan Shirrod Collection http://libraries.wsu.edu/masc/finders/pc117.htm, at Washington State University Libraries' Manuscripts, Archives, and Special Collections (MASC), http://libraries.wsu.edu/mascpc117n125ImageCampus buildings--Washington (state)--Pullman; Washington (state)--Pullman--Washington State College--College Barn1908North and Central America--United States--Washington (state)--Whitman county--Pullmanark:/80444/xv24975Manuscripts, Archives, and Special Collections, Washington State University Libraries: http://libraries.wsu.edu/mascNo known copyright. The picture is pretty much unrecognizable as compared to campus in the 2010s (or even in the 1950s). This picture is looking north; Johnson Hall now occupies the location of the Farmhouse (that hill, Poultry Hill, was removed in 1958 to allow Johnson to be built). The Livestock Pavilion would likely be in the lawn on the southwest corner of Campus Way and Wilson Road. The Horse Barn was razed in late Spring of 1946 so that Stadium Way could be run through its location. Photographs of the Horse Barn seen here are often confused with the similar-looking Beef Cattle Barns (which eventually became the Lewis Alumni Centre). They can be easily told apart by the much darker color of the Horse Barn. The two wings extending off the south side of the Horse Barn were added in 1909.plain2019-05-09T16:51:19+00:00Is found in PC 3, WSU Buildings Photographs http://libraries.wsu.edu/masc/finders/pc3.htm, at Washington State University Libraries' Manuscripts, Archives, and Special Collections (MASC), http://libraries.wsu.edu/mascpc003b12f01postcards_1920barnImageBarns; Farms1920North and Central America--United States--Washington (state)--Whitman county--Pullmanark:/80444/xv40374Manuscripts, Archives, and Special Collections, Washington State University Libraries: http://libraries.wsu.edu/mascIn copyright.
