English Words and Terms
- Centre for Australian Language and Linguistics (CALL): Part of Batchelor Institute of Indigenous tertiary Studies (Previously Batchelor College)
- Central Land Council (CLC): Aboriginal organization whose mission is to aid in land claims cases and the management of Aboriginal land trusts.
- Corroboree: Large ceremonial gatherings.
- Half-caste: Term used to describe bi-racial children especially during the late 1800s through the 1950s.
- Hold-up country: An expression Aboriginal people use to explain the rituals and other work they must do to maintain their proper relations with country.
- Humpie: Bush shelter
- Poor buggar: Poor thing, dear one
- Stolen Generation: Term that refers to the children taken away from their Aboriginal families under Australian assimilation policies.
- Traditional Owners: Australian legal term that denotes Aboriginal groups who have been recognized as the formal owners of specific territories.
