Anyinginyi Manuku Apparr: Stories from Our CountryMain MenuTravelling StoriesAjjinyi Apparr Wurrmulalkki (Life Histories)AppendixComplied by Kimberly Christen in consultation with Warumungu people from Tennant Creek, N.T. Australia
The following section is divided into chapters by ‘countries’—specific places within Warumungu traditional lands. Each place is introduced with quotes by both non-Aboriginal and Aboriginal sources. Following these brief snapshots are ‘Paper Histories’—narratives from government officials and newspapers—and ‘Warumungu Histories’—stories narrated by Warumungu people that have been transcribed and translated. This layering of histories is meant to suggest the interconnection of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal lives and histories. Although these stories are filled with loss and tragedy, they are also a testament to histories of hope, on-going traditions and a future that includes both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people.
