Duncan Dunn was first built as "New Dorm" in 1926, at cost of $150,000, also known simply as Women's Residence Hall. Originally constructed as a girls' dormitory, housed 140. In 1933, the structure was named for the first WSU alumnus (class of 1902) to serve on the Board of Regents (1917, 1923-1928), Mr. Duncan S.
