In March of 1970, nearly 3,000 students marched through Pullman to protest the draft, racism, and were boycotting non-union grapes to show support for migrant workers. Several demonstrators entered Pullman supermarkets and began smashing grapes. However, only Ralph Atkins, a black sophomore who was dressed in a Black Panther uniform, was arrested; he was charged with inciting a riot.plain2019-05-09T16:51:13-07:00Is found in PC 28, Paul Philemon Kies Photographs http://libraries.wsu.edu/masc/finders/pc28.htm, at Washington State University Libraries' Manuscripts, Archives, and Special Collections (MASC), http://libraries.wsu.edu/mascpc028_70H2, 27 Mar 1970, rally in support of Ralph AtkinsImageActivists; Demonstrations; Students1970North and Central America--United States--Washington (state)--Whitman county--Pullmanark:/80444/xv92353Manuscripts, Archives, and Special Collections, Washington State University Libraries: http://libraries.wsu.edu/mascIn copyright.
