My Mum and grandmother, they worked as cleaner and cook at Renner Springs. Really just a roadhouse there, they worked at Helen Springs station. Grandma used to do the cooking, made homemade bread. Anyone who passed by could stop in. Mum used to do the dishes. That roadhouse is still there. She used to milk cows, Mum did and pluck all them turkeys. But we used to stay at the tin shack, that's where I was born. Just across, just behind the dam. It was hot, but we normally sleep outside. Chambers was the boss there, Jack Chambers. He's still there.

My grandfather I don't know where he got buried but somewhere there. That's their country there by Renner Springs. There used to be lot of kids from Helen Springs and Renner Springs went to BB station. They picked us kids up in a car and took us to BB. Then went back on the weekend. Mrs. Ward organized it. Maybe ten or eleven kids used to be.

The school was easy school, not too strict. We used to come down here (Tennant Creek) for sports. We was there in the 70s. There was only the Hookers there, they were bosses. We'd go play after school, climb up the hill or go swimming at Kajunpura, just play around, most of the time swimming. The old people were working then. That's when Dotty mob was livin' here then. We had good teachers then.

We had caravans for school, with stairs, upstairs one. Teachers caravan, kitchen caravan, four caravan was there, school and bath were we used to have shower and laundry. We used to have a teacher from India, Mr. Raja. He was all right. I just remember two teachers him and lady teacher, Mrs. McDinney or something.

Lots of kids went back and forth, and a few white kids there, cause their parents used to be mechanic and all that. They were all right. We used to get along with them. We used to have light blue skirt and white shirt uniform. We used to come here for sports, we had a flag and our name, Banka Banka School.

We used to practice for swimming there, we used to go to Kajumpura, practice swimming there, but too short. We used to run on the bush road, that was all right. We used to thing relay with rulers.

Lots of families there, Trisha's mob, the Johnson's then some from Renner Springs, May Fosters mob, they come from Helen springs. But two ways they used to go, sometimes on the weekend they used to walk down from Helen Springs to Renner Springs, short cut they used to walk, not far. Just probably like Morphett Creek to BB station, or bit longer.

We used to stay at Morphett, for ceremony and holiday. Used to walk down from Morphett right up to BB station. During those school holidays we used to go out bush live then, Morphett now.
