Stock Work

Wakayala
B. Thompson Jungarrayi

I was born here and grew up here at Rocky. My Mum she was here. And we go out to stock camp, work with this mob here, go out for long time out at stock camp. All the young blokes, us mob, we lived at this single men's quarters here before we go out to work. We used to work from here, work round station here, work out bush, stock camp. We did stock work, mustering cattle, branding, something, lot to do. We was always working round here. We must go out for stock camp, all us young blokes and them old fellas too. We were out, out then when that one died. That manager was Jack Jones. We had no radio then, no Toyota. They just had to come get us, one bloke had to run down tell us that manager dead now. Then we moved out to new camp. We had them little houses then. We still worked all round.
