D. Nangali and E. Nappanangka worked at this mine. Before they were at Seven Mile with their families. Mrs. Ward saw them in the creek lifting sand and thought they were strong workers so she took them straight away, took them to Kumunjayi Moon Mine. Nangali said they worked all day picking up the small nuggets with their hands and with tweezers. In the thick grass they would push it away and pick up the small ones all day. Nappanangka remembers they had to load the nuggets into sugar bags and lift them up on to the trucks, up on the hill all day in the sun. They got up early everyday before the sun came up, had a bit of tea and then the truck took them up the hill for work. Even at night they worked they helped the old ladies with the washing and cooking too. Only two old ladies were there with them. After all that hard work they ran away. They left at night and went through the bush, not on the roads to Six Mile first and then back to Seven Mile where their families were living.
