Old people used to work at the Telegraph Station when the papulanji came there. The old people were there already, but now they came for ration and to work. Men and women worked at the station and kids were milking nannie goats and hunting for bush tucker too. That old lady, Nappanangka's mother, worked in the kitchen. She worked there all day and the men were blacksmiths there. The old lady would bring the kids lollies sometimes from the kitchen. All the kids would wait out past the old tree on the side of that station, waiting for their mother to come back at night. The police set up his tent on the other side out past the station and would come around the camps. He'd round up the half-caste kids and shoot the dogs.
